Arugambay is situated about 358 km away from Colombo and and can be reached via Colombo – Batticaloa Hwy/Colombo – Ratnapura – Wellawaya – Batticaloa Rd/A4

Arugam bay the charming coastal area in the southeast of Sri Lanka is named after its bay, a part of Indian Ocean. The beautiful sandy beaches are famous for surfing as they are known to have the best waves for surfing in Sri Lanka. The Arugam Bay Village paints a picture out of a book with picturesque creation of architecture with palm thatched cabanas and tree houses. The place has not seen much development but because of that one can enjoy the rustic beauty of the town which is increasing its popularity as a tourist destination.

Arugam Bay Is Considered One Of The Top Five Surfing Locations In The World. Season & offers some exceptionally fine point breaks. The season starts early April through to late October, the wave size is commonly 2ft-3ft with the occasional set wave at 4ft-5ft with the point having a modest reef bottom. There can be long lulls between consistent swells, generally the Arugam Bay experience is suited to a longer one -six months. During this period solid swell and some exceptional days will be encountered.Arugam Bay is home to over 10 surf points. Its fantastic waves attract surfers from all over the world.


Arugam Bay is also ideal for snorkelling. The Basses Reefs is a ‘must-see’ dive site in Sri Lanka.

Wild Life ( Kumana national Park )

Home to over 200 species of birds, including rare and migratory birds, the Kumana National Park is just over 10 km away from the Water Edge Resort. It can be reached via the Panama – Kudumbigala Sanctuary. Kumana is best visited during May, June and July.
